GarageBand Now on iPhone, iPod Touch

Apple’s GarageBand application allows users to create and edit music on their mobile device. The app’s only downfall? The fact that it was an iPad exclusive when it first launched. Now, Apple has released a major update which allows GarageBand to run on iPhone and iPod Touch devices.

Users can tap out tunes on a virtual keyboard, strum a virtual guitar, and tap beats on a virtual drum kit with GarageBand. The app can also mix songs using up to 8 tracks, create loops, trim audio, and apply other effects.

Songs can then be saved as a digital music file. Alternatively, users can send their project for further editing on their Mac.

GarageBand 1.1 for iOS is a universal app that runs on the majority of recent iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad models running iOS 4.3 and up.

GarageBand is available from the App Store for $4.99.
