Report Control: Apple Upgrading iOS to 4.3.1 Within Two Weeks

Apple is reportedly set to release an update to its iOS operating system that is found on all iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices.  Within the next two weeks, the giant will address minor bug fixes and a multitude jailbreaking vulnerabilities through and official update.

According to Boy Genius Report, Apple’s iOS 4.3.1 update looks fix some minor bugs and increase stability for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches running iOS 4.3. The same website lists several changes, including base-band updates for iPhone 3GS and iPad and an iPad 2 fixes targeting jailbreak tool vulnerabilities.  This is coming a mere week after Apple launched the iOS 4.3 update, which added AirPlay enhancements, increased performance, and a ‘Personal Hotspot’ feature specific to the iPhone 4.

Also said to be included in update 4.3.1…

  • Fixed memory hang that results in memory corruption when reading large files from USIM filesystem
  • Fixed problem with NTLM authentication in apps and on Web sites
  • Fixed issue with the Springboard and third party apps not recognizing the gyroscope on the iPad 2

Although the exact date of the incoming update is unclear for the most part, Boy Genius Report’s sources say it should be available within the next two weeks. Those sources are also unsure as to whether the update will be made available for Verizon customers, considering the iOS update schedules.
