Kindle Fire Revealed by Amazon

Kindle Fire Revealed by Amazon

Amazon has revealed its Kindle Fire slate, a device that is being billed as a more compact, cheaper alternative to Apple’s iPad.

Launching in November for a mere $199, the souped-up Kindle eReader plans to sport a seven inch display and offer Wi-Fi connectivity — no 3G here, according to Bloomberg. The device will not offer an embedded camera or a microphone.

The Kindle Fire will run Google’s Android operating system, although Amazon has “painted over the rough surfaces… with a fresh and easy-to-use interface and tied the device closely to its own large and growing content library of movies, magazines and music,” according to the report.

Early adapters will receive a 30 day trial of Amazon Prime, the company’s video streaming subscription service, along with the tablet device.
